Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Maker's Aide ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use Maker's Aide, including our website at makersaide.com and our web app (together, the "Service").

We're a small, maker-run business, and we built Maker's Aide for makers like us. We collect only what we need to run the Service, we never sell your information, and your business records belong to you.

If you have questions, email us at support@makersaide.com.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information: your name, email address, and password. Passwords are stored in a scrambled (hashed) form by our login provider; we can't see them.
  • Business information: your business name, the type of products you make, your time zone, and your settings (such as units, labor rate, and overhead).
  • Business records you enter: materials and ingredients, suppliers, purchases and their costs, recipes and products, labor time, batches and lot numbers, finished goods, sales totals, prices, allergen information, production plans, and notes. We call these your "Business Data."
  • Files you upload: invoices, receipts, packing slips, and order confirmations you scan; sales report files you import (such as a Shopify CSV export); and screenshots you attach to feedback.
  • Team members: if you invite team members, their names and email addresses.
  • Interest form and feedback: if you fill out our "Other makers" interest form or send feedback, the answers you give, such as your name, email, business name, website, what you make, and your comments.
  • Messages to us: anything you send when you contact support.
  • Payment information: when paid plans are available, payments are handled by our payment processor, Stripe. We don't receive or store your full card number. We may receive limited details, such as your billing name, the last four digits of your card, and your payment status.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage and device information: pages visited, features used, the type of browser and device, and your IP address. We use this to keep the Service working, secure, and improving.
  • Cookies and similar storage: we use cookies and your browser's local storage to keep you logged in, remember a referral code for up to 30 days, and save unfinished entries (like a batch you're logging) on your device so you don't lose them. We don't use advertising cookies inside the web app.

Information from others

  • Referrals: if you sign up using another maker's referral link or code, we record that you were referred by them.
  • Connected services (when available): if you choose to connect Shopify or Etsy, we'll receive the product, order, and inventory information needed to sync your sales. We only request the access the feature needs, and we don't need or ask for your customers' names, addresses, emails, or phone numbers.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide the Service: calculate your costs, track your stock, log batches and sales, and show forecasts and reports.
  • Read uploaded invoices and sales files so the Service can fill in purchases and sales for you to review.
  • Create and manage your account, free trial, plan, add-ons, and referral rewards.
  • Send you account and service emails, such as sign-up confirmations, password resets, trial reminders, referral notifications, and important updates about the Service or these policies.
  • Send you marketing emails, such as product news or a notice when a version for your craft is ready, but only if you've asked to receive them. You can unsubscribe anytime.
  • Respond to your questions and support requests.
  • Understand which maker types and features people want, so we know what to build next.
  • Keep the Service secure, prevent abuse (including referral abuse and spam), and fix problems.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information or your Business Data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

3. AI features

Some features use artificial intelligence (AI) to save you typing:

  • Invoice scanner: when you scan an invoice or receipt, the document is sent to our AI provider, Lovable AI Gateway, which runs on Anthropic and OpenAI, to read details like the supplier, items, quantities, and prices.
  • Sales file import: when you import a sales report, we remove columns that look like customer names, emails, phone numbers, or addresses before sending a small sample to our AI provider to help match columns and products.

The AI only suggests. You review everything before it's saved, and all calculations are done by our own code. We do not use your Business Data or uploaded files to train AI models, and we use AI providers whose terms do not allow them to use this information to train their models.

4. How we share information

We share information only in these situations:

  • Service providers who help us run the Service, under agreements that limit their use of your information to providing their services to us. These include:
    • Hosting, database, file storage, and login: Lovable Cloud
    • AI processing for the scanner and imports: Lovable AI Gateway, which runs on Anthropic and OpenAI
    • Account and service emails: Kit
    • Marketing emails (only if you opt in): Kit
    • Payments (when available): Stripe
  • Your team: if you're on a plan with team members, the people you invite can see your Business Data.
  • Connected services you choose: if you connect Shopify or Etsy, information passes between us and that service as needed for the connection to work. Their own privacy policies apply to what they do.
  • Referrals: we never show a referred maker's name or details to the person who referred them. Referrers see only counts and dates.
  • Legal reasons: if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or us.
  • Business changes: if our business is sold or merged, your information may transfer to the new owner, who must continue to protect it under this policy or notify you of changes.

5. How we protect information

  • Information is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.
  • Each business's data is kept separate, and access is restricted so only you and your invited team members can see it.
  • Uploaded files are stored privately.
  • Only people who need access to run and support the Service can access your data, and only when needed.

No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information. If we learn of a security incident that affects your personal information, we'll notify you as required by law.

6. How long we keep information

  • Account and Business Data: kept while your account exists. If your free trial or subscription ends, your account becomes read-only and your data is kept so you can export it or come back. You can delete your account and data anytime in Settings.
  • After you delete your account: we delete your data within 30 days, except for copies in backups, which are removed within 90 days, and records we must keep for legal, tax, or accounting reasons.
  • Interest form responses: kept until you ask us to remove them, or until we no longer need them to plan new maker types.
  • Usage and security logs: kept for a limited time, generally no longer than 12 months.

7. Your choices and rights

You can:

  • Access and export your Business Data anytime from Settings (CSV export).
  • Correct your information in the app or by contacting us.
  • Delete your account and data in Settings, or by contacting us.
  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any marketing email. You'll still receive necessary account and service emails.
  • Turn off referral emails in Settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights, such as the right to know what personal information we hold about you or to ask us to delete it. We honor these requests for all users, wherever you live. To make a request, email support@makersaide.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We won't treat you differently for making a request.

8. Children

The Service is for businesses and is not intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

9. Users outside the United States

The Service is run from the United States, and information is stored and processed in the United States. If you use the Service from another country, your information will be transferred to the United States.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service changes. If we make important changes, we'll email you or show a notice in the app before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
