Terms of Service
Last updated: September 30, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Maker's Aide ("we," "us," or "our") for your use of Maker's Aide, including our website at makersaide.com and our web app (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
We've tried to keep these Terms plain and fair. If anything is unclear, email us at support@makersaide.com.
1. Who can use the Service
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement.
- The Service is for running a business. If you use it on behalf of a business, you confirm you're allowed to accept these Terms for that business, and "you" includes the business.
2. Your account
- Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your password secure. You're responsible for activity under your account.
- On plans that allow team members, you're responsible for the people you invite and what they do in your account.
- Tell us right away at support@makersaide.com if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.
3. Free trial
- New accounts start with a free trial of 30 days that includes all Pro features. Some offers, such as referral links or promo codes, give a longer trial; the length is shown when you sign up.
- No payment details are needed to start a trial.
- At the end of the trial, you can choose a plan. If you don't, your account becomes read-only: you can still view and export your data, but you can't add or change records until you choose a plan. We don't delete your data because a trial ended.
- During the trial, invoice scans are subject to a fair-use limit shown in the app.
4. Plans, add-ons, and limits
- Plans: Starter ($14/month or $140/year) and Pro ($29/month or $290/year). Paying yearly includes two months free compared with paying monthly. The features in each plan are listed on our pricing page.
- Add-ons: Shopify sync and Etsy sync are optional add-ons at $9/month or $90/year each and work with either plan. Add-ons follow the same billing schedule as your plan. Add-ons marked "coming soon" aren't available yet.
- Limits: every plan includes up to 150 active recipes (or products) and up to 500 active materials. Archived items don't count. Plans have different numbers of users and invoice scans, as shown on the pricing page. There are no order or sales limits on any plan, and we will never move you to a different plan because your sales grew.
- Changes to plans: we may add, change, or remove features over time. If we remove a feature that's a main part of your plan, we'll tell you in advance.
5. Payments and billing
This section applies once paid plans are available.
- Plans and available add-ons are billed monthly or yearly in advance, according to the schedule you choose, through our payment processor, Stripe. They renew automatically on that schedule until you cancel.
- Prices don't include sales tax or other taxes, which may be added where required.
- Your price: if we change prices, the price of your current plan and billing schedule stays the same as long as your subscription stays active on that plan and schedule. Changing plans or billing schedules, or canceling and later subscribing again, uses the current price of the new choice.
- Upgrading: an upgrade to Pro or adding an available add-on takes effect right away. You pay only the difference for the time remaining in your current period, calculated by the days left, and your renewal date stays the same. Switching from monthly to yearly takes effect right away: the yearly price is reduced by a credit for the unused part of your current month, and a new yearly period begins that day.
- Downgrading: a downgrade to Starter, removal of an add-on, or switch from yearly to monthly takes effect right away. The unused time on your previous plan is credited toward your next bill. Your billing date stays the same. Nothing is deleted when you downgrade; Pro-only features pause.
- Cancelling: you can request cancellation anytime from your account. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and then your account becomes read-only. We don't give refunds for partial months or years, except that if you cancel a yearly plan within 14 days of paying for it, we'll refund the full yearly payment, or where required by law.
- Failed payments: if a payment fails, we'll let you know and retry. If it still can't be collected after a reasonable time, your account may become read-only until payment is updated.
6. Refer a maker program
- You can share your referral link or code. Makers who sign up with it get a longer free trial.
- You earn one free month for each referred business that becomes a paying customer. A free month covers your whole monthly bill, including any add-ons. On a yearly plan, a free month moves your next renewal date one month later. Free months stack and are used one month at a time.
- Free months have no cash value and can't be transferred or exchanged for money.
- You can't refer yourself or your own other accounts, and each referred business can earn only one reward.
- We may cancel rewards that come from fake accounts, spam, or other abuse of the program.
- We may change or end the program. If we do, free months you've already earned will still be honored.
7. Your data
- You own your data. Everything you enter or upload, including your recipes, costs, suppliers, and sales ("Your Data"), belongs to you.
- You give us permission to store, process, and display Your Data only as needed to provide, secure, and support the Service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- You can export Your Data anytime from Settings, and you can delete your account and data anytime.
- You're responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. Please don't upload your customers' personal information unless the Service needs it.
8. Calculations, suggestions, and AI features
The Service helps you make decisions, but it doesn't make them for you.
- Based on what you enter: costs, suggested prices, margins, "what can I make" counts, forecasts, order-by dates, and allergen lists are calculated from the information you enter. Their accuracy depends on that information.
- Not professional advice: the Service is not financial, tax, accounting, legal, or regulatory advice. You're responsible for your own prices, taxes, and business decisions.
- Labels and regulations: you're responsible for your product labels and for following the rules that apply to your products, such as cosmetics regulations, cottage food laws, food safety rules, and allergen labeling. Allergen lists and best-by dates in the Service are tools to help you, not a guarantee of compliance, and the Service does not create nutrition labels.
- AI features: the invoice scanner and sales import use AI to suggest information. AI can make mistakes, so always review suggestions before saving them.
9. Early access and new features
Some features and maker types are marked "Early access" or "Coming soon." They may be incomplete, change, or be removed, and they're provided as they are. Your feedback helps us improve them, and you allow us to use feedback you send without any obligation to you.
10. Connected services
If you connect a third-party service, such as Shopify or Etsy, your use of that service is governed by its own terms and privacy policy. We aren't responsible for third-party services, and a connection may stop working if the other service changes or restricts access.
11. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- Break the law or use the Service for anything harmful or fraudulent.
- Try to access other businesses' data or accounts, or get around security or plan limits.
- Interfere with or overload the Service, or use bots or scrapers on it.
- Copy, resell, or reverse engineer the Service.
- Upload viruses or harmful code.
- Abuse the free trial, invoice scanner, or referral program, for example by creating multiple accounts.
12. Our Service and content
The Service, including its software, design, and content (but not Your Data), belongs to us and is protected by law. We give you a limited, personal, non-transferable right to use the Service under these Terms.
13. Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service available and reliable, but it may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance, updates, or problems outside our control. We may change or improve the Service over time.
14. Suspension and termination
- You can stop using the Service and delete your account anytime.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, doesn't pay, or puts the Service or other users at risk. Where reasonable, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to export Your Data.
- If we ever decide to shut down the Service, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice so you can export Your Data.
- Sections that by their nature should continue after termination, such as those about your data, disclaimers, and limits of liability, will continue.
15. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we don't make any promises or warranties, express or implied, including that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose, or that calculations, forecasts, or AI suggestions will be accurate.
16. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- We aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities.
- Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) $100.
Some places don't allow certain limits, so some of these may not apply to you.
17. Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of Your Data, your products, or your violation of these Terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim.
18. Disputes and governing law
- If you have a problem, please contact us first at support@makersaide.com. Most issues can be solved quickly and informally.
- These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
- Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Kootenai County, Idaho, and you and we agree to those courts' jurisdiction. Either of us may bring a claim in small claims court if it qualifies.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If we make important changes, we'll email you or show a notice in the app at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms.
20. Other terms
- These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
- If any part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest stays in effect.
- If we don't enforce a part of these Terms right away, we can still enforce it later.
- You can't transfer your account or these Terms without our permission. We may transfer them if our business is sold or merged.
